Port Townsend, WA

Come join a one-day introductory Deep Democracy workshop on understanding and facilitating conflicts. We will learn together and practice Deep Democracy, an awareness based methodology for working with challenging moments in groups and conflicts in relationships, teams, and communities and develop our own awareness based leadership skills.

Deep Democracy, a concept developed by Arnold Mindell and colleagues, is a cutting edge, coaching, relationship, facilitation and leadership development model. These concepts are part of unified paradigm that can be used for facilitating groups. This approach integrates concepts from Quantum Mechanics and social field theory and shows how personal and collective processes and the Tao mirror each other in our somatic body experiences, in relationships, and in the roles and tensions that exist between them in conflicts. Learning to notice our own felt body experiences, verbal and nonverbal signals, roles, and the mirrored patterns that structure conflicts in the world around us provides powerful intervention tools.

Deep Democracy Facilitation is centered on learning to notice more deeply and trust your own experience in a new way and using this to develop greater understanding and spiritual eldership towards all of the voices, states of consciousness, and frameworks of individual and interpersonal experience in conflict. The information carried within these various levels of awareness are all needed to understand the structure of conflicts and group dynamics and to facilitate disturbances in any given system. Deep Democracy facilitation can help business organizations, NGOs, communities, civic groups, families, couples, and individuals develop awareness and the leadership and facilitation skills needed to facilitate disturbances in order to help the collective system find more effective resolutions and sustainable outcomes.
